About Me

Hi! My name is Deema and I'm the mastermind behind BookTok, Unveiled. I'm currently starting my senior year in Dubai after moving from California in 2023. I started this project to discuss my many questions regarding how adolescents are so deeply immersed in books and shows that venture into unconventional viewpoints of youth. My curiosity began to grow when many of my friends were reading "BookTok" books, which are books that began trending all over social media, mainly TikTok. Authors such as Colleen Hoover made me question how reading delusory fiction about teenagers can affect the young readers captivated by these stories. Through my website, I hope to discover why and how these shows and books are so influential for the youth, as well as the consequences of modern media on today's society and culture.
