Booktok, Unveiled

The goal of Booktok Unveiled is to share and educate others on how and why trendy fictional media has become so influential for adolescents. Whether watching the infamous Spanish drama Elite, or indulging into the wild American Euphoria, adolescents can’t help but obsess over teen dramas that are insanely unrealistic. In order to investigate this universal phenomenon, I plan to interview a variety of experts, from psychology professors to television studies professors. The website also contains blogs where I write personal anecdotes, and reflect on how trendy media affects many aspects of life, including emotions, stereotypes, and aspirations. From this broad range of knowledge, we may begin to understand why young adults can't stay away from fictional media, and how this fascination impacts us.
